Haagen-Dazs

As a fun thing to do I have decided to take a picture of every Haagen-Dazs store that I see in my travels even if I don't go to them just because I love ice cream and it is something fun to do.

Dublin!

Wow, do I have a lot to say but regardless I will make this short cause I'm lazy and pictures are so much easier.
Anyway, this last week, I went to Dublin with Alicia for 6 days and we had a blast!

Saturday 17th-

We Arrived at our hostel and found out that for our first night we were upgraded to a private room with no extra cost! Look we even have a kitchen!
Sunday 18th-

After going to the Tourism office we went and took a nap at Trinity College...just ignore the finger k?
We then precceded to wander around for a bit.Later I ran into Dan, a classmate from high school (very odd to meet him here), and we ended up going over to his new hostel and having a couple of drinks with him in his friends. It was fun because he filled me in on all the gossip of whats going on with our other classemates.

Monday 19th-

We tried to go to the Chester Beatty Library but it was closed. So instead we wandered around the Dublin Castle, got some coffee at starbucks, and came back to the hostel to watch Lost before going to bed.

We did take some time to do a quick visit to Dvblinia (dont ask) on the wander though.
Tuesday 20th-

Today we went on a day tour of Wicklow and Glendalough. Places in the country south of Dublin and as you can tell it is really pretty. I don't know the exact names of the places we went but Alicia does and I can get the info from her later.

Wednesday 21st-

Today we actually went to the Archeology Museum. While we were there I got bored so I sat in on a lecture called 'The Broighter Hoard: blah blah blah'. It actually was quite interesting and was about the fun stuff they find in the bogs from way back, like iron age way back. It is pretty cool.

Afterwards I went for a long long long walk around and ended up near the docks. I really liked it but passed out when I got back to the hostel.

Later that night we went to a bar with some other girls from the hostel to see Irish dancing.

Then we all went to the Temple Bar, a famous tourist bar in Dublin, because we figured that if we are going to be in Dublin we might as well. I had my first real Guinness there. I have to say it was quite good. You can see it in the center of the table.Thursday 22nd-

We actually went to the Chester Beatty Library today and looked around at the religious documents it had from most of the major religions of the world. It was cool and quite educational.

After the museum we left for the airport and came back to grenoble! I was so glad to get back because I was starting to get sick and that is never good.

Good bye Dublin....

Valentinstag

hier was weird...
I knew it was going to be weird when I was sitting in my 'Histoire du Cinema Français' classe et all of a sudden the end of the film was in German subtitles. As many of you know I took german in highschool and can still read and understand some of it (its an easy language), so imagine my surprise when I had to watch a movie in french but kept reading along with what they were saying in english! I knew I was going crazy when the french and the german combined in my head to form english...it gave me such a headache.

le Hiver vacance

So I think Alicia and I finnally confirmed our plans for Dublin.
We are going to be leaving this Saturday and taking a flight directly to Dublin and then hanging out in a hostel for 5 days untill we come back on thursday night.
Still don't know how I am affording it but I will figure that out when I get there.
Oh and I will definently bring back pretty pictures for everyone to enjoy!

le 3-5 semaine point

So according to everyone this is the point in everyone's study abroad trip in which they get homesick and want to go home.
...
Well I am homesick and want to go home. It is ok though, everything will turn out fine I just am getting tired about having to worry about money, friends, school, family (including host) ect. ect. ect. I think once Alicia and I figure out what we are doing for the vacance and after we get back I will feel much better.
...
I can' wait till I get back.In other news, I have an intense craving for a tofu broccli omlett, roasted potatoes and legumes, strawberry shortcake, et fried rice.

Les Vercors

today Paul took 4 of us, including me, up to this cave system to explore it and be awed...
well ok so we werent awed by the caves parce-que they were closed due to falling icicles but the trip up was gorgeous! The 4 of us were glued to the windows for the entire 2 hour trip and then screamed everyonce and a while on the narrow paths as we barely avoided a colosion with a crazy french driver. Really though, we drove through the prettiest things ever, we felt like we were in somekind of kodac calander.

These are pictures from the top of the Vercors, which is the mountain range near Grenoble where the caves are. The view isnt as pretty as our trip up them but it was still cool!as always there are more on flicker

bastille

Today Paul took a few of us up to the Bastille which is the fort that overlooks grenoble, the one that the balls go to. Its really cool and a popular place for climbing and running to, like what I did last week.
I think I am going to try to run it once a week....note try. ^_^the group qt one of the outcroppings
our destination.....its a long walk up

ana + brandon

good friends are hard to find but i think i found some

i hope i can keep them

fishbowl

The mountains here do a strange thing.

Sometimes, when things are right, they seem to stretch right into the sky, which makes it hard to tell where one ends and the other begins.

It makes me feel like I live in a fishbowl, being surrounded like that, with mountains on everyside.

I kinda like it.

revolution museum

Alors, these photos are from the Revolution Museum in Vizille, which is like an hour south of Grenoble. I didn't take that many pictures but as you can see it is quite pretty and I plan on going again just to admire the grounds some more.

OMG

so today i ran who knows how much to get to the bastille which is a fort on the top of one of our mountains! it was so cool and i got a wonderful view of the city, the pictures do no justiceI know the picture is fuzzy but it was pitch black so just a little bit difficult. The cool thing though is that if you can see the lights that are floating in the air? Well those are the brightest of some of the villages in the mountains in the backgroud. When their are lots of stars it looks like the lights on the mountains are stars as well and the feeling is awsome!
